About Karen
Karen emigrated to Perth from the United Kingdom in 2004. She is a registered counsellor and is internationally endorsed by the Australian Association of Infant Mental Health (AAIMH) WA as an Infant Mental Health Practitioner, IMH-E. She holds a Master's Degree in Perinatal and Infant Mental Health from Edith Cowan University and presented her research at the World Association of Infant Mental Health (WAIMH) 17th World Congress in 2021. On top of her extensive studies and credentials, her own experience of being married with four daughters means Karen is filled with insight into the challenges of transitioning into being a parent and navigating the complex journey of parenthood.

Karen firmly believes every family is unique and deserves access to individualised, therapeutic services and early intervention parenting programs. This led to her wanting to create a consultancy of her own, with programs that ensure infants and children thrive and develop optimally across their lifespan. Karen has worked closely with many families during the perinatal period in the government, not-for-profit and private sectors including establishing, managing and delivering early intervention child protection programs and providing individual and group supervision for staff. She has extensive understanding of the many challenges and barriers families face and how these challenges may impact the formation of positive early relationships and affect healthy family functioning. Karen is dedicated to supporting families in their journey, helping them to flourish and make positive long-term changes for the future. Her therapeutic interventions are tailored to each family's unique and individual needs, primarily using a neurodevelopment, attachment and trauma informed (NATI) approach, underpinned with an infant mental health lens. She has considerable experience in delivering therapeutic group programs, in addition to providing case management, advocacy and support services for individual parents, mother-infant dyads, youth, and a diverse range of families.
